About the Institute
The Institute of Physiology and Pathology of Hearing in Warsaw (established in 1996) is a leading scientific research and development unit of the health department. Its statutory task is to provide complex care for people with hearing, voice, speech and balance disorders. Professor Henryk Skarżyński M.D., Ph.D. is the organizer and director of the Institute. International Center of Hearing and Speech is a part of the Institute. Its statutory tasks include scientific, educational and clinical activities. The Center is located in Kajetany near Warsaw, 20 km from the city center.
We have recently celebrated the 10th Anniversary of the Institute of Physiology and Pathology of Hearing in Warsaw, Poland and the 15th Anniversary of diagnostic, treatment and rehabilitation program of the deaf and hearing impaired. During that time we have provided over 1000 patients with cochlear implants and over 100 patients with other types of implants such as: brainstem, middle ear, BAHA and RetroX. We would like to mention that we have elaborated the first in the world program of treatment of partial deafness in children and adults. Only in 2005, we performed 6.500 otosurgeries which means up to 40 operations per day and consulted 150.000 patients.
We offer a wide range of trainings and workshops for various specialists in otosurgery, otology, otoneurology, audiology, phoniatrics and speech and language pathology. All of them are organized in collaboration with experts from leading centers in the world. We have organized 18 International Conferences, 27 domestic with participation of international experts and over 200 domestic conferences, workshops and trainings.
